About the University of Aveiro
Situated by the coastline in the centre of Portugal, at about 250 km from the capital city (Lisbon), the University of Aveiro is one of the youngest, more dynamic and innovative universities in the country. Attended by about 15.000 students in undergraduate and graduate programmes, the UA has since long assumed a relevant role within the country’s university landscape, being part of the leading group in what concerns the quality of its infrastructures, its research and the excellence in teaching.
With a training offer that covers areas such as education, social sciences, engineering, science, arts and humanities, health and technologies, in a total of 51 undergraduate courses (licenciaturas and integrated masters) and of 106 graduate courses (masters and doctoral programmes), the UA’s prestige has been often recognised in international rankings. The most recent one was published in April by the prestigious journal Times Higher Education (THE) and placed the UA on the 69th position on the world ranking of the best higher education institutions with less than 50 years old, based on indicators such as teaching and research quality, innovation and international reach.
